Maternity Photography in Brisbane: Most pregnant mothers I speak to are either absolutely excited about their maternity pictures or they’re a little apprehensive about the idea. On one hand, this is a monumental moment! You’re with child, you’re radiant, you’re excited and your life is seriously about to change. On the other, you’re a little uncomfortable with your changing body, and the thought of standing in front of a camera seriously freaks you out.
As Maternity photographer in Brisbane I’m here to tell you that there’s nothing to be nervous about. Your maternity pictures are photographs that you will cherish forever and ever. They’re pictures that yours friends and family will absolutely adore; pictures that your child and your child’s child will look at in the future and think, “Wow!” Trust me!
In other words: don’t let any qualms you’ve got about your body — whatever they may be — get in the way of photographs that’ll be admired for many years down the road. My goal is to make sure you look and feel absolutely gorgeous from beginning to end.
My maternity photo sessions include unlimited outfit and location changes. I prefer to shoot outdoors on location, but I absolutely respect a soon-to-be-mother’s need for serenity and privacy, so indoor or private locations are absolutely OK.
Pregnancy photo shoot session
This second option, which tends to be the more popular one, is when parents
already know the sex of their unborn child. Their goal with a gender reveal session is to creatively reveal what they already know to all their friends and family! This is how I did both of my gender reveal sessions, as well (mostly because I wanted to discover my baby’s sex ASAP).
Whatever you choose, know that this session is definitely going to be a blast. And it requires very little energy spent on your part, as well! During your consultation, we’ll discuss the various creative ways we can reveal your baby’s gender to the world and then, should you prefer, I’ll take it upon myself to do most of the planning for you.
Maternity outdoor photography
Some people prefer to wait until their gender reveal photo session to actually find out the sex of their child. The goal here is to capture the element of genuine surprise in all of their photographs. These photos tend to convey raw emotion, including happy tears, gleeful squeals and giant smiles.
When gender reveal sessions are done this way, the parents get their physician to seal an envelope with the sex of their child, which is then given to a close family member or friend — or cake baker — who keeps the secret and helps plan the session.

timing
It is recommended that maternity photography sessions are held at around 34-37 weeks. Moreover, this timing allows us to capture a beautiful round belly. Also, plenty of time to avoid your baby arriving before we have a chance to meet.
Furthermore, maternity sessions held on location are more often than not, held in the late evening. At the gorgeous golden hour, right before the sunsets. Soft, light images of your family enjoying a warm afternoon or a freezing cold evening. Enjoying the fresh cool breeze.
In addition, you are welcome to visit the studio and view our range of print options and samples of wall art and albums that you can touch. Feel and get a sense for how you’d best like your maternity portraits displayed.
duration
Your session will run for approximately 60-90 minutes. This time frame will vary with each family, also I tend not to watch the clock. If everyone is enjoying themselves, the weather is playing my game. And I seeing some beautiful moments, I tend to just keep going. Besides its still about fun.

When To Book a Maternity Session
I would suggest booking your maternity session around your 20th week. You will have your scan at that time and find out important information about your baby. You will have the time to know your photographer and to start planning your maternity session the way you prefer.
I will invite you to the studio for a chat and a cup of tea. All your questions will be answered and you can see the dresses available to you as well as the studio space where it all happens.

Best time for your Maternity Photos
The best time to photograph your bump is anywhere between the 27th and 34th week. Your belly should be showing beautifully and hopefully, you shouldn’t be too tired yet. You can wait longer if you wish but babies are unpredictable and you might feel exhausted at the end of the session.
Your partner, children, and pets are all very welcome and highly recommended to join you in the session. They will help to make it much more memorable and personal.

A 30% deposit will secure your session and will be required at booking. The balance for your chosen collection is due on the session day. The images will come both in colour & black and white version.
I shoot for the images you have chosen to purchase. (so we will plan the session ahead) and edit the best images so you don’t have to choose anything. Partners and children are allowed in the shoot. let’s have a chat

It is ideal that you contact me somewhere around the end of your second trimester to schedule a date for your maternity session. My schedule does book up months in advance, so planning ahead as best you can help to avoid disappointment.
